The Government have announced plans to add £5bn to a funding pot designed to improve home care for the elderly.
Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt said an "army" of 18,000 people would be deployed to deliver the additional services.
Another focus of the Better Care Fund is to reduce the number of people being admitted to costly nursing homes while also preventing 160,000 annual hospital admissions by providing better access to care in the home.
What brilliant news for the people of Milton Keynes. My counterpart in MK South, Iain Stewart and I, have been working closely with the Health Secretary highlighting the healthcare needs of the elderly residents in our constituencies. The roll out of this fund will have a positive impact on care quality and availability.
