I came face to face with the work of around 70 talented creatives with a connection to Milton Keynes during a tour of MK Gallery's current exhibition.
My visit coincided in the week that MK Council unanimously voted in support of a motion to bid for Milton Keynes to become European Capital of Culture in 2023.
The MK Calling 2015 exhibition (until September 6th), selected from an open call for submissions, offers an exciting overview of the breadth of current creativity and it is one of the many ways in which MK Gallery supports the growth of a vibrant artistic community in and around Milton Keynes.
The show marks the end of the Gallery building in its current form, before work begins on the Gallery's renovation and expansion. The ambitious new Gallery will open in 2017 to coincide with MK50, the city's fiftieth anniversary.
Admission to MK Gallery is free and for more information visit www.mkgallery.org for details of its weekly public events programme.
