Local MP Mark Lancaster has welcomed National Transplant Week.
National Transplant Week aims to raise awareness of Organ Donation by encouraging people to join the NHS Organ Donor Register and talk to family and friends about your wishes.
The need for organ donation is expected to rise as there is to be an increase in the ageing population. The number of organ donations has remained static over the past few years. A major reason for the shortage is that many people have not recorded their wishes about donation or discussed it with their families.
Joining the register means your intentions are securely recorded and will enable healthcare professionals to carry out your donation wishes in the event of your death. Mark has signed the register and is trying to encourage others around Milton Keynes to do so.
Mark said "National Transplant Week aims to raise awareness and emphasis how important it is for people to sign up to the Transplant Register. I would like to encourage as many people as possible to do so."
