It has been announced by the London 2012 Organising Committee, that Milton Keynes would be the first of 123 communities in the South East that the Olympic Torch would travel through on the 9th July next year.
The torch will be carried by torchbearers nominated for their good work in the community. After the Milton Keynes torch relay it will follow on to Bletchley and then continue its travel through the South East.
Mark said, "With so many Olympic celebrations taking place in the city next year, it is fantastic news that the torch will be carried in Milton Keynes. It is a great honour for the city and I am looking forward to watching the Torch Relay immensely."
Iain Stewart MP for Milton Keynes South added, "I am pleased with this piece of good news. Milton Keynes was put on the world map recently when we applied to be a host city for the World Cup bid. This news is a further boost for the city and it especially honours torchbearers who have helped their local communities".
