Mark shuffled into Treasury job

City MP Mark has been promoted to become a Government Minister in David Cameron's first major reshuffle.

The member for Milton Keynes North has been appointed as a Lord Commissioner for Her Majesty's Treasury. Mr Lancaster's primary role will be as a senior Government whip managing the Government's business in Parliament with secondary duties at a Government department, expected to be the Ministry of Defence. The move means that he stays working with his former boss Andrew Mitchell who was appointed the Government Chief Whip.

First elected in 2005, Mr Lancaster becomes the first Milton Keynes MP to hold Ministerial Office since the city has its first dedicated MP in 1983. He said; 'While I'm honoured to have been appointed by the Prime Minister my feet remain firmly planted in Milton Keynes. I'm fiercely proud of Milton Keynes and all that we have achieved in recent years and I'm determined to use any greater influence I might have in Government to deliver a positive future for residents.'
