City MP Mark Lancaster recently visited Milton Keynes based charity STaSS.
STaSS delivers free, confidential and inclusive support services for people infected and affected by HIV and has been running in MK for the past 5 years.
Mark was impressed to visit the charity, which has just been awarded a tender by Milton Keynes Council to expand their service, and see firsthand what they have been doing.
STaSS also offer free HIV tests to residents of Milton Keynes having regular open drop in sessions at their offices in Kingston Retail Park. Mark, who is keen that people do get tested to prevent the spread of the disease, took a test in order to raise awareness.
Mark said "STaSS is offering a lifeline to many people within our city by supporting those who are often stigmatised by a disease which has become manageable if detected early. I would like to encourage as many people as possible to use STaSS's service to be tested for the disease so we can stop the spread and also contact them if they are suffering from the disease to get much needed support."
