Mark has welcomed new measures which will ensure that young people and small businesses feel the full benefits of the expansion of apprenticeships under a new government scheme.
Milton Keynes North has benefitted from this scheme by increasing apprenticeships by 380 in the past year.
In Milton Keynes, Mercedes-Benz, has invested £2.1 million into Training Academy facilities at their Tongwell site. This will provide industry leading facilities enabling over 330 young people to become Mercedes-Benz qualified technicians. Currently 100 apprentices attend daily and after completing the training programme, are guaranteed a job with Mercedes-Benz.
Mark said; 'I am very pleased that Milton Keynes North is benefitting from the increase in apprenticeships and I hope that more businesses will consider taking on apprentices' in the future, I think many local businesses could take the lead from Mercedes-Benz, who have done a tremendous amount of work to encourage people to take up apprenticeships. This is great news not just for individuals but for the whole local economy.'
Marcus Breitschwerdt, President & CEO, Mercedes-Benz UK Ltd commented; 'Investing in apprenticeships is essential to the ongoing success of Mercedes-Benz in the UK. We passionately believe in developing the skills of young people to become our technicians of the future and to ensure that we meet the high expectations of our customers. Mercedes-Benz is proud to be based in Milton Keynes and our new industry leading Training Academy facilities here further underscore our commitment to the city.'
