MP marks end of mobile surgery tour

AN MP has completed a 150 mile trip - within his constituency.

Over three days, Mark Lancaster stopped off at more than 20 towns and villages as part of his annual mobile surgery tour.

In an effort to make himself as accessible to residents as possible, Mr Lancaster travelled in a hired people carrier which doubled up as a meeting room.

He spoke to more than 100 constituents on issues ranging from flood defences to speeding, nuclear energy to roadworks.

It is the sixth year he has taken his surgeries - which take place at the council's Civic Offices all year round - on the road in Milton Keynes North.

Mr Lancaster, whose presence caused queues at his last stop, Newport Pagnell, said: "I make it my aim to find out the concerns of all communities and these mobile surgeries are a great way of making sure everyone has access to their political representative.

"A lot of people said they just liked having the chance to walk to the end of their road and have a chat with their MP.

"I would like to thank everyone who took the time to come and see me, and look forward to taking my surgeries on the road again."

The MP and his team have completed around 8,000 pieces of casework since he was first elected in 2005.
