MP for Milton Keynes North, Mark Lancaster, has welcomed plans which will see a cap placed on the amount of money elderly people will have to spend on care.
Mark's support comes after the announcement made earlier this week by the Secretary of State for Health, Jeremy Hunt, which will see personal contributions towards social care at £75,000. The announcement follows recommendations made in the Dilnot review last year.
With the introduction of a national minimal eligibility threshold it is hoped that the new guidelines will put an end to the lottery of local access which can see support provided to someone in one area but not in another.
Mark said "Too often I meet people in Milton Keynes who are concerned that the unlimited cost of care will leave them with nothing. I am pleased to see that the government has responded to this concern and are helping those who need it most."
