City MPs Mark Lancaster and Iain Stewart will be holding a Food Forum at the Church of Christ the Cornerstone on Thursday 8 March.
Bringing together food retailers, storage and logistics companies with charities working with those affected by food poverty, the meeting aims to support the work of organisations like the Food Bank.
Manager of MK Food Bank John Marshall said "The demands for our services have sadly increased over the last year. As a short term solution to food poverty we are able to help make sure local residents do not have to go hungry. We hope the Food Forum can really help in plugging some of the gaps that make service delivery that much more difficult and we look forward to contributing to it"
MP for Milton Keynes South, Iain Stewart noted "There are a number of local organisations that have been working with homeless and vulnerable residents for over a decade. Their work is greatly valued and we hope this meeting will help generate more donor support"
Mark Lancaster, MP for Milton Keynes North added "Interest from some of the cities largest food retailers and storage companies have been very positive. The sharing of ideas is a key part of this Food Forum. While I wish they did not exist, I am nevertheless mindful of the invaluable contribution they make to our local communities"
