NO Closures at MKU Hospital

In recent days there have been rumours that some MKU Hospital services are under the threat of closure.  This is totally unfounded and Joe Harrison, CEO of MKU Hospital has issued the following statement.

"I can assure you that there have been no decisions made in public or in private about any hospital service, and that any proposal for service change at any of the hospitals in Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes would be subject to full and proper public scrutiny and consultation.

In response to recent media reports about A&E and maternity services at the hospital: Milton Keynes University Hospital is one of the busiest urgent and emergency care sites in the country and there are certainly no plans to downgrade or merge our A&E or maternity services.

The Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes (BLMK) Sustainability and Transformation Plan (STP) is publicly available and nowhere does it say these services, nor any other hospital services, are to be closed or moved.

We are working closely with all of the other 15 partner organisations in our region to deliver improved health and social care services for patients in BLMK now and in the future, and no decisions about any service will be made without full public involvement and consultation."
