The MK Mythical Maze Challenge

School holidays are upon us and I am encouraging all children across MK to take on the Reading Agency's 16th National Summer Reading Challenge.

MK Libraries are asking children between 4 -11 years old to read, or have help reading, six library books during their summer holidays.

The 2014 theme is 'Mythical Maze' which challenges children to find their way around a labyrinth of fantastical creatures from the world of legend and mythology. Youngsters will be encouraged to read six books during their summer break, plot their progress on a special poster and receive a medal and certificate on completion – all for free!

Simply sign up at any MK Library.

With young children myself, I fully appreciate the excitement of getting lost in a thrilling adventure, or being totally engaged right till the last page.  What a fun initiative and I urge the youngsters of MK to fill those summer holidays and get reading!
