Uniform to Work Day

As a serving Member of the Army Reserve I joined thousands of other reservists by wearing my uniform to work in the House of Commons to help promote the role of reserves in today's society.

Currently serving as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Royal Engineers I've been a member of the Army Reserve for the last 25 years serving in Bosnia, Kosovo and Afghanistan.

The Army Reserve is increasing in size over the next five years to over 30,000 members and 'national uniform to work day' is just one way of highlighting the role that reserves play in our society, many people for example didn't realise that not only are 15% of our servicemen and women on Operations in Afghanistan Reserves, but Reserves also played a key role in responding to the flooding crisis earlier this year.

We have two excellent Army Reserve units in Milton Keynes based in Blakelands and Bletchley and I would encourage anybody interested in joining to get in touch by ringing 01908 211155.

I'm pictured here with with fellow reservist MP's Major Desmond Swayne and Lt Penny Mordant
