Wolverton Town Team are celebrating after the announcement that their application for £10,000 from the Government's Town Team Partner scheme has been successful.
The scheme, set up by the Department for Communities and Local Government, is intended to recognise the effort of those towns who missed out on becoming a Portas Pilot.
The Wolverton Town Planning team, headed up by Marie Osborne, previously made an unsuccessful bid to the Portas Pilot, but have now received the funding to start making progress with their vision for Wolverton Town Centre.
The partnership funding will be used to engage businesses in working together to promote Wolverton as a place to do business. The funding will also support some practical projects to enliven the Town Centre.
Mark Lancaster, MP for Milton Keynes North, said: 'This is a very exciting time for Wolverton. This money will give Marie and her team the funding kick start that they need to bring the business community together and to really give the town a facelift.'
Marie Osborne from Wolverton Steering Group said "Whilst we were disappointed we didn't get the £100,000 Portas money, it's great that the Government has listened and is backing a range of Towns who made the effort to bid."
